From the Director’s Desk This coming Friday, March 9th, is devoted to Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conferences are student-led. This means that all students, ages 5 year old through secondary, attend the conference with their parents. With the help of their teachers, students are preparing this week for these conferences. All appointments must be made through Gulnoza in the office, so please contact her if you have not already done so. Middle School and Secondary students have been assigned a teacher facilitator for their conference. The facilitator acts as a support and guide for students as they share reflections and goals with parents. We expect all students and parents to attend this very important conference day. We look forward to seeing you! REMINDER: All 13 year old and Secondary I students will be taking the PSAT on Friday, March 9th from 9 a.m. – Noon. Mr. Malik will be meeting with all students on Wednesday morning for preliminary preparation. The PSAT is a mandatory test for these two age levels this year. If you have questions, please contact Kim Black. Another Literacy Week is marked in our history books for QSI Dushanbe, and what a great week it was! Happy Spring to all of you! Enjoy your weekend! Kim Black and QSID Staff
Dearest QSI parents, THE FABULOUS 4’SIn the four year old class there are many skills that develop and many changes that happen through the school year. Since the winter break this has been especially noticeable as students demonstrate growing maturity. Socially, they are now able to demonstrate skills such as taking turns in line on the playground or playing a board game. They share toys, introduce themselves, ask questions, follow basic directions, and exhibit self-control. Their language skills are also developing and I am so proud to see that my little ones can express their feelings with their own words, use four- to five-word sentences, respond correctly to questions, and understand responses to questions. The students have also improved their gross motor skills through what we have been learning through games. While these thing may seem small, you can imagine how difficult students would find a 5 year old class without these important skills. I am so happy to teach this particular age and am always amazed at the big changes that happen in my students during the year. Many of the things we have practiced during the year are based on the QSI Success Orientations. These are great guides for learning what is important in the four year old class. But they also encourage behaviors that will help students be successful in later years, too. Sincerely, Parvina Sharifova
