NSC eUpdate Jan. 16, 2017

NSC's external reviewers will be present Jan. 29 - 30. All faculty meetings with the reviewers will be held on Monday, Jan. 29.  Please mark your calendars for the dates and times below based on your designated programs:

The Hispanic Media Initiative is partnering with NASSC to organize an event to help make transfer students from the Caribbean who were displaced during the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season feel more at home here at NSC. If your student organizations are interested in participating or contributing, please contact Erica Kight via email at erica.kight@ucf.edu

The newly revised HRP 103 - Investigator Manual has been uploaded to the IRB web page.  Take the time to review this document, which explains the IRB process and the responsibilities of researchers – before, during, and after IRB review. This document can be found on the IRB webpage under “IRB Policies & Procedures.”

Beginning Jan. 22, the Office of Research & Commercialization will require that investigators applying for sponsored projects submit all proposal documents required for review through ARGIS at least five (5) business days before they are due to a funding agency. The Office of Research will not submit proposals that miss the 5-day deadline without authorization of the Associate Vice President for Research and the Associate Dean for Research of your college. It is the policy of UCF that all sponsored project proposals be submitted through ORC. You can read more about the policy by clicking below.

During the College of Sciences Distinguished Speaker Series event at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, J. Marla Toyne, Ph.D. associate professor of Bioarchaeology in the UCF Department of Anthropology, will be speaking on how and why the ancient Chachapoya people created and placed their ancestors in ancient cemeteries and cliff tombs. She will discuss how we can use archaeological knowledge in meaningful and accessible ways for both local and scientific communities to advance the conservation of these ancient sites. The event will be held at the Tuscawilla Country Club, in Winter Springs, FL. Please RSVP to attend.
