Sid Shares #11SidShares Hi All! Here is my eleventh monthly dose of “Sid Shares.” A list of what I’m enjoying and exploring. May’be…is what I would like to dedicate this edition to. To quote an old Jam song ‘Thick as thieves’ (Setting Sons album 1979) “Times are so tough, but not as tough as they are now”…is how I’ve been feeling in April. I’ve been struggling with a few things and the more I struggle the more they wrestle me back! So, I’ve decided to stop struggling and wrestling. To not fight and just accept ‘what is’. I’ve realised that I have so many blockages stopping me experiencing the happiness I seek. So May is all about May’be…the will to surrender and let things be as they are. I came across the amazing Michael (Mickey) Singer recently and I love his teaching. What I love is his mantra of ‘letting go’ and how we can apply that to all aspects of our life. One thing he says that really resonates with me is this “Pay attention to what takes you down – that is where your work is”. Powerful stuff and definitely something that is getting my focus. It also reminded me of Michel de Montaigne’s poignant observation: “My life has been full of terrible misfortunes, most of which never happened.” So true! If you fancy a good film to watch that’s all about heroes, stories and life then have a watch of ‘Finding Jo’ on YouTube. It features some of my heroes like Deepak Chopra, Robin Sharma, Rashida Jones and Sir Ken Robinson. It’s all about our own ‘heroes journey’. The move from the ‘ordinary’ to the ‘extraordinary’, and discovering that we all have our own ‘heroes journey' of possibility, discovery and existence. It’s free and well worth a watch. If you watch it please let me know your thoughts at findingjo@meee.global I recently came across the amazing Steph Smith. She is a senior analyst at the Hustle and did an amazing podcast with Calvin Rosser (also amazing!). 4. What the hell is going on with COVID-19? Steph shares her thoughts about the COVID-19 pandemic and what we can expect over the coming months for life and business. It’s a great podcast and there are some really useful resources listed too. One of my heroes is Tiger Woods and I recently watched a film about him and his career. Most people remember his spectacular fall from grace and the effect it had on his sporting career. What I really enjoyed from this film is his drive and motivation not to give up. And the gratitude he has for his mum and dad. A real insight into the very private world of the greatest golfer (my opinion of course). If you like dogs and animals then this one is definitely for you. It’s a short film about how amazing dogs are at smelling! It’s not very long but it’s super cool. Well worth a watch. How Your Dog's Nose Knows So Much. @Meee we recently published a list of some really useful links and resources. It’s called Meee Things To Do...To Watch...To Read...To Enjoy... If you have any thoughts or suggestions to add to this list please email us useful@meee.global A poem that I adore is The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. What I love is the last line…”And that has made all the difference”. We do not know our futures, but sometimes taking a different and unfamiliar road could be the best thing we ever do…May’Be! Travel safely x
