You may choose to allocate it towards printing and distribution of campaign materials, social media advertising, and up to $300 in travel expenses. The more you talk to community in your electorate, the more visibility you will have in the election and the stronger your campaign will be. Enrolment and VotingThere are over 2,000 community members across Victoria who have enrolled to vote so far. Voting opened on Monday 16 September and will close on Sunday 20 October 2019. You can vote online, via post or at an in-person polling booth. A critical role of candidates is to encourage community to enrol and vote. Polling locationsIn-person polling is taking place across
Victoria. Most booths are open now: You can access the flyers for each voting regions' polling locations here. Candidates are allowed and encouraged to attend in person polling booths in their electorate to talk with community, and may wish to hand out campaign materials. Note there are certain rules that candidates will need to follow, including not campaigning within six metres of a polling place entrance. Family Fun DaysA reminder that there will be Family Fun Days held in Frankston, Horsham, Bairnsdale, Shepparton and Melbourne. In Ballarat we'll also be attending the VACSAL Footy and Netball Carnival. The Flyers for the Family Fun Days can be accessed here. Please distribute these flyers through your networks and share the information with your family, friends and community members. The Family Fun Days provide the opportunity for community to come along to have a chat to candidates and enrol and vote. We'll have music and entertainment, free food and kids activities. There will be a polling booth at each event. Candidate BookletThe candidate booklet for each voting region can be accessed here. This booklet is to inform community members of the Candidates who are standing in their electorate. The booklet has been placed at polling locations, on the www.firstpeoplesvic.org website and sent to all people who have requested a postal vote. As candidate nominations period has closed, and polling is open, we are unable to make any changes to candidates' statements or photos in the booklet or on the website. Email NewsletterThe third email newsletter will be distributed on Friday 4 October 2019 and content for this newsletter must be received by midday Thursday 3 October . The newsletter is a valuable opportunity to distribute messages directly to voters in your region. This could include communicating messages about what you stand for and why people should vote for you, providing details on your travel plans for campaigning throughout your electorate, or an upcoming event that you are holding. Participation is optional. To contribute please send your content to candidates@victreatyadvancement.org.au by midday this Thursday 3 October. Content must by no more than 200 words and in a Microsoft Word compatible format (.doc .docx .txt). You may include a photo in .jpg, .jpeg, .png or .bmp format, high resolution, named with your first and last name. Assembly Election Officers (AEOs)A reminder that the Assembly Election Officer role is to support community to be informed about and participate in the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria elections. Officers are actively engaging with community members to boost enrolments and encourage voting until 20 October 2019. To ensure their impartiality, the officers’ role is not to support candidates; your support comes through the Commission and your own networks.
