Idaho Wines Impact Award - Now Accepting Nominations 

The Idaho Wine Commission is recognizing an outstanding Idaho wine industry supporter for their passion, achievements and support over the past year. This award is nominated and voted on by the industry and nominations are now open!

This award, formally named the Distinguished Member of the Year Award, is getting a facelift to expand the nominees to individuals in the industry along with those in the community that are advocates and cheerleaders of Idaho wines. Nominees can include but not limited to, restaurant owners, GMs, accounts or outstanding sales manager. 

 Please send Ashlee your nomination with reasons why you feel this person deserves the award.  Comments submitted with nominees will be used during the voting process.

Nominations for the Idaho Wines Impact Award are open until January 18th. The top three nominees will be announced on January 21st and voting will be open until February 1st. We will announce the Idaho Wines Impact Award winner the Annual Meeting.

STOP THE BLEED® Offered to the Industry

STOP THE BLEED® is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. STOP THE BLEED® is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before
professional help arrives.

This class is offered to the industry at NO CHARGE to you and/or your staff! This is a quick 1 hour and 30 minute class that will go over what you need to do in an emergency! Great information and highly recommended! Spread the word - it's great information!

Two full days of seminars bringing you up-to-date on what's happening in Idaho's world of wine. We are sending speaker highlights leading up to the Annual Meeting to really showcase all the great speakers we will be having this year! 

Please note the Vintage Tasting will be blind. This means all wine must be submitted and delivered to the IWC office by February 15, 2019. If the wines are not registered and delivered to Brenna for the Vintage Tasting, they will not be tasted. This year we are limiting it to six varietals to aid in focusing discussions: chardonnay, riesling, viognier, tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, syrah.

SavorNW Wine Awards

The SavorNW Wine Awards, one of the largest competitions focusing on wines from Pacific Northwest wine regions, is open for entries.

The SavorNW Wine Awards are now accepting entries for their 2019 competition. Designed to showcase Northwest wines and wine regions, the SavorNW Wine Awards expects more than 700 wines for the judging which is scheduled for the last week of February in Cannon Beach, Oregon, and is open to wineries with fruit grown in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and British Columbia.

DEADLINE: All wines must be delivered, paid and entry forms submitted by January 31, 2019.

Oregon Wine Symposium - Early Bird Registration Still Available

Mark your calendars! On February 12-13, 2019, the Oregon Wine Symposium offers two full days of seminars, lectures and panel covering pressing issues facing wine businesses including tracks for viticulture, enology, business, sales and marketing.

The Symposium brings wine industry members from around the Northwest together to discuss issues, discover new tools and techniques, and network with industry partners.

"Marketing Wine to Millennials" Event

In terms of buying power, Millennials are the largest consumer group in American history
and represent the future for most consumer brands. According to the Wine Market Council, the segment already purchases more wine than their immediate predecessors, GenX. This session will explore what distinguishes Millennials, how to communicate with them, what encourages them to buy, how they like to travel and much more. 

The Institute for Enology & Viticulture at Walla
Walla Community College will present a half-day “Marketing Wine to Millennials” program
on Friday, March 8, from 12 – 5 p.m. Location is 3020 E. Isaacs Ave.

Registration is limited to 45 and the cost is $32.00, which includes a post-workshop
reception.
