Current Funding OpportunitiesCalRecycle Released the Application for the Organics Grant ProgramThis competitive grant program funds the building or expanding of facilities to process California-generated organics like green waste materials, food waste, or alternative daily cover being sent to landfills. Applications will be open until November 21, 2019. Nearly $50 million available for CAL FIRE’s Fire Prevention Grants ProgramThis program will fund local projects that reduce the risk of wildfire in communities near forested areas. Applications are due on December 4, 2019. CAL FIRE Announces Funding Available for Projects that Protect and Enhance Forest Health This Program funds landscape-scale projects intended to restore and maintain healthy forests and conserve working forests. Applications will be open until December 6, 2019. Grants for Urban Tree Planting and Forest Management Available Through CAL FIRECALFIRE’s Urban and Community Forestry Grants Program helps expand and improve the management of sustainable urban and community forests in California. Applications will be open until November 27, 2019. CSD Launches $10.7 Million Farmworker Housing Solar PV & Energy Efficiency ProgramThe Farmworker Housing Component provides no-cost rooftop solar PV systems and energy efficiency upgrades to low-income farmworker households to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower energy costs for participants. STEP has Upcoming Public Workgroup MeetingsThe Sustainable Transportation Equity Project (STEP) is a new pilot project from the California Air Resources Board that takes a community-based approach to overcoming barriers to clean transportation and mobility options. The next workshop will be held on November 19, 2019. CEC Awards Cap-And-Trade Dollars to Save Energy at Food Processing FacilitiesThis program helps food processors adopt advanced energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. $6.2 million in grants for research projects are available and applications will be open until November 20, 2019. Projects in the NewsFrito-Lay Reaches for Zero Emissions in California, Replacing Diesel TechThe $30 million Near Zero-Emission Freight Facility Project will swap diesel for zero- and near-zero emission freight at its 500k-square-foot facility in Modesto. Transform Fresno Kicks Off Two TCC-Funded ProjectsTransform Fresno, a suite of community-driven projects in a 5-mile area of Fresno where residents face some of the worst air quality and barriers to opportunity in California, recently hosted two kick-off events. Oxnard City Corps Planting Free Peach and Avocado Trees in Ventura CountyOxnard City Corps planted trees in a local community park, thanks to an urban and community forestry grant.
