As we celebrate Medical Ultrasound Awareness month, we have been asking you to share your personal Ultrasound stories with ASUM on Facebook and Twitter

Join the conversation and share your very proudest moments or tell us what first sparked you to begin a career in Ultrasound. We will be offering our favourite entries a free webinar or a copy of a great textbook by Rob Gill.

We love to hear of your memories, so do not forget to tag @asumultrasound and hashtag #ASUM #MUAM #MUAM2020

So many proud moments over the years. An early one being able to image eight fetuses (Octuplets) on the Octoson in the mid 1970's. Wish I still had the polaroid - Sue Davies

Humanitarian award

Image 265 * 195px

Lasy year ASUM awarded Peter Coombs with the Humanitarian of the year award. However, as Peter was in Ethiopia at the time of WFUMB19, we were not able to share this award with him. Following multiple attempts to recognise this, we organised for the Monash Health Imaging Department to award this to him.

In receiving the ASUM Humanitarian of the Year award, Peter wishes to acknowledge the support and encouragement of the Monash Health Imaging Department sonographer group and executive team.

Peter has been the Sonographer in charge, leading the ultrasound service at Monash Health for 15 years.  A major focus of Peter’s volunteer activity has been teaching and support of ultrasound in the developing world. In 2018, Peter made a short teaching visit to Arba Minch, Ethiopia as part of a World Federation in Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology (WFUMB) initiative. He was so taken by the need through this region that he then partnered with WFUMB and ASUM, taking a six month sabbatical in 2019 to teach ultrasound in Ethiopia, leading to this much deserved-award.
