Watch the film that won the City Brand Aarhus competition

Aarhus has nine new city brand films. They were all part of a contest to make a film about Aarhus to attracts students, workers, tourists and investment. The winner was Explore with us. You can watch the video here.

NEW book: Business-Dances with Danes, Decoding Danish workplace culture

In order to have smoother interactions with Danes, it is important for non-Danes to know  the Danish social norms. This book explains the background of certain social norms, provides aids to “decipher” the codes of social behaviour and sheds light on the DOs and DON’Ts of the Danish workplace.  Read our event section below for the book release date.  For more information about the book follow this link.

Improved service at the Foreign Office of East Jutland Police

Thanks to the e-mail booking system that was introduced in August, the service of East Jutland Police Foreign Office has improved significantly.  Even though the phone service is still an option, the office receives about 1000 calls per day; therefore, people are encouraged to take advantage of the e-mail service option.  Find out more here.

The Main Library hosts Newcomer Talk Ups and invite you to contribute and participate!

Do you have a special interest or knowlegde about culture, music, literature, political systems or anything else from your native country, and would you like to share this with others?  Newcomer talk ups will be held in the informal surroundings of the library and will last for about half an hour. Afterwards there will be time for questions, debate and socialization.  You can find out more about it here.

Mancopy & More Dance Festival

"Aiming to establish a free and open communication of the human expression, Mancopy Dansekompagni is on the forefront of unconventional artistic structures".  The dance company Mancopy brings to Aarhus this "small" festival with an international composition to take place at Bora Bora from 10-17 November.  Read more about the festival here.

Work in Denmark Spouse Programme

Work in Denmark has launched a new and improved spouse programme. This is a 6 month job-targeted programme assisting the accompanying spouses of international workers in Denmark with their job search.  It provides assistance with the spouse’s CV, cover letter, competencies, possible job openings and internships. It differs from the past programme because of an increased focus on better matching candidates with suitable companies and the CV’s only being sent to companies with matching qualification needs.  You can find out more here.

PhD House Activity Group general assembly

The general assembly for the PhD House Activity Group takes place on November 26th at 4pm at the PhD House and all PhD students and post-docs are invited. The group requires new board members; this would be a great opportunity for new PhD students or post-docs looking to learn new skills, meet new people, and become an active member of the larger AU community.  Read more about the PhD House Activity group on their Facebook page or website. UIC: Christmas Party.  Experience an authentic Danish Christmas Eve: trim the tree, light the candles, sing Christmas carols, enjoy a light meal and see who finds the almond in the special Danish rice pudding.  There will be Crhistmas games and a surprise!
