Chamber holds second Advocacy Day at Alberta Legislature
The Calgary Chamber is committed to making sure our city remains a great place to do business. One of the ways we do this is through regular meetings with politicians and government officials to discuss ways we can reduce red tape, keep taxes low and implement policies that will create an environment in which businesses can prosper.
This Wednesday the Chamber will be continuing with these efforts by holding its second Advocacy Day at the Alberta Legislature. During this back-to-back day of meetings, we’ll be discussing a number of business issues with such politicians as Minister of Municipal Affairs Doug Griffiths, Minister of Justice Jonathan Denis and Minister of Infrastructure Wayne Drysdale.

Will Canada ever achieve its potential as an energy superpower?
It’s been nearly seven years since the term “energy superpower” was coined to describe Canada’s potential as major player in world energy markets. But living up to that moniker has been difficult, as a number of challenges have prevented Canada’s energy industry from reaching its full potential.
In a recent article in the magazine Policy Options, the Chief Economist of the Calgary Chamber Ben Brunnen and Tom Kmiec, manager of policy and research at the Chamber, examine the challenges that have been holding Canada’s energy industry back as well as the possibility that we may be doomed to become a second-rate energy supplier if these problems aren’t resolved.
Learn more about what Canada needs to do to get its energy act together.
