Sales of homes throughout the greater Houston area never let up in 2012, driven by a combination of strong local jobs numbers and historically low interest rates. December marked the 19th straight month that sales were in the black, and it was another month in which housing inventory shrunk and prices rose. In fact, both median and average home prices achieved historic highs as the year came to a close.  The full story is available here.

Fulshear Arts Council Engaging Local Students and Adults

Staying after school does not have to be a bad thing. The Fulshear Arts Council (FAC) hosted two art enrichment classes in pottery last November at Huggins Elementary and will host another class in April, led by local artists.

Promoting community interest in the visual and performing arts for all ages is the purpose of the FAC. In addition to student-focused puppet shows and craft classes, the group hosts art exhibits and art-focused dinner events for grown ups.

“Thankfully, all of the proceeds of the Fulshear Scarecrow Festival benefitted the Fulshear Arts Council,” reports President Marcia Simmons, “so we are poised to recruit more volunteers and offer more art and drama related activities in west Houston.” The Fulshear Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation formed in 2011 working to offer instruction and performances to develop strong arts and cultural values that promote an educational environment that adds to the economics of west Houston.

Currently, FAC is seeking volunteers to help organize events for adults and families as well as those who can help students in enrichment classes. FAC is also always on the lookout for artists that can teach other skills such as drawing, painting, or weaving.
