ECSD Model a Helpful Tool for Marital Therapists
Therapists who work with couples may find the Ecological Couples Systems Diagram (ECSD) to be a valuable tool, suggests new research in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
In particular, the ECSD model could help therapists and couples identify factors associated with infidelity.
An estimated 34% of men and 24% of women are unfaithful to their partners, the authors explained.
The ECSD focuses on five systems that could influence a romantic partnership. For example, the exosystem reflects opportunities for infidelity, such as social media use and the availability of opposite-sex co-workers.
