An Update from our CEOMarch has been a month of strong engagement and meaningful connection across the Wyndham business community. It was fantastic to see more than 100 business leaders come together for our collaborative event with Victoria University and Workforce Australia at the Werribee Campus showcase. These opportunities to connect, share insights and collaborate continue to highlight the strength and ambition of our region. I would like to sincerely thank our outgoing Vice-Chair, Lesley Rogan, for her leadership and contribution to the Board. A strong advocate for our region, Lesley leaves a lasting impact as she steps down to pursue new opportunities. We now have a casual Board vacancy and encourage interested members to get in touch via admin@committeeforwyndham.com.au Looking ahead, we have an exciting pipeline of activity, including our upcoming East Werribee Precinct Roundtable and Amazon Facility tour. With a state election less than eight months away, we remain focused on shaping the advocacy landscape and amplifying the priorities that matter most to our members. From workforce development to infrastructure, while continuing to connect, support and champion the Wyndham business community throughout 2026. I hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and have a safe and enjoyable Easter break with your loved ones. Yours sincerely,
Leanne Down CEO, Committee for Wyndham
Victoria University On Wednesday 25 March, Victoria University’s Werribee Campus hosted 107 attendees from industry, education, government and the community for a showcase focused on building workforce capability in Wyndham. Delivered in partnership with Victoria University, Committee for Wyndham and Workforce Australia (Local Jobs Program), the event highlighted the importance of collaboration in developing job-ready graduates and strengthening local talent pipelines. A panel discussion led by Committee for Wyndham's CEO featured representatives from VU, the School for the Visitor Economy, research, healthcare, emergency services and community services. The panel explored emerging industry trends, future skills needs, workforce challenges and the critical role of applied, hands-on learning in preparing students for real-world environments. Guests also toured the campus, with a focus on Trades and Health facilities, showcasing practical learning in action. The event reinforced the value of strong partnerships between education and industry in driving better outcomes for students, businesses and the broader community.
