Some of us will receive socks and undies, some will get a bottle of something to drink and others will get something from a $2 craft stall if we’re lucky. When my youngest son was in Year 2, he proudly came home and gave me a hand-made gift of a money box made from a Pringles chips container. He had so carefully cut the plastic in the middle of the lid to make a slot for the coins to go in and he had stuck paddle pop sticks on the sides over the red crepe paper wrapping. He had tentatively written “Dad’s Loose Loot” on the side. This is the bit about which he was most proud. I still have this money box today. Last year I had filled it. I gifted it back to my son as a gesture of remembrance and love.
