50th anniversary staff party

It is time to dig out the dancing shoes again - we are delighted to announce the University will host a 50th anniversary staff party on Friday June 16th.

Anyone who has attended the staff Christmas parties at DUSA over the past two years will know how much of a celebration it can be when people gather together from across the University community.

We have teamed up with DUSA again for a summer event as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations. Staff will have exclusive access to areas of the Union throughout the evening, and there will be a barbecue in Airlie Terrace. Tickets are free and we’d advise you to book early.

The fun starts at 4pm on Friday 16th June. Look forward to seeing you all there

Dow Putter Golf

The Dow Putter competition

This year’s event marks the 50th anniversary of the University's Dow Putter golf competition, and there is the added challenge of removing the putter from the tight grip of the Principal who won the competition last year.

Any members of staff wishing to compete should send their name, telephone number and handicap to g.r.w.findlay@dundee.ac.uk by 12th May.

Read the One Dundee Blog post to find out more about the Dow Putter competition.

Graduation Stories

All our graduating students are interesting, but some are of more interest to the press, or on social media. Others are great examples to allow us to promote our courses to the next generation.

Do you know a graduating student who:

  • has got a great job or scholarship
  • did a particularly newsworthy or interesting dissertation or project
  • is graduating despite particular adversity or unusual circumstances
  • fits the "mum & daughter graduating on same day" type story
  • is travelling to Dundee for the first time, having studied a distance learning course?

Or do you have the first students graduating from a new course?

Please contact internal-comms@dundee.ac.uk in the first instance with details.

A Year in Dundee, by Eleanor Booty

A Year in Dundee, by Eleanor Booty

"I’ve spent two years in Dundee now, but I figured I’d take the time to reflect on this one. I’ve come up to Scotland from the very South East of England and in my first year I focused mostly on not feeling too homesick and trying to make it a home away from home. This year however, I’ve been far more adventurous and decided to try to lap up all the culture I can and truly feel at home in Scotland." Read the rest of the story on the Student Blog.
