Stat Of The Week
Birth registration is the 1st step toward legal identification + foundation for human rights. Rates of 85%+ are common in the Pacific In PNG. Only 13.4% of children under 5yrs had their birth reg'd with a civil authority (Demog &Health Survey2016-18) More data here.
44.8% of people in Solomon Islands still practice open defecation (defecating outside). World Toilet Day raises awareness of the 3.6 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. More data here.
In 2018, almost 1 in 3 ever-partnered women & girls in Vanuatu were a victim of physical, sexual or psychological violence by a current or former intimate partner in the previous 12 months. More data here.
