Click here Convention Delegate, Congratulations on being elected to represent Republican voters in your community -- and thank you for being willing to undertake the responsibility of serving as a delegate to the Republican Party of Texas state convention! This is the first of four emails we’ll send to help you be the most effective delegate possible. Of course there will be a lot of fun events to attend in San Antonio, and everyone will have a great time, but the purpose of convention is to conduct business. It’s the final place to advance your ideas for our platform, priorities, and rules, and to elect leadership for our Party. The better you understand the convention process the more effective you’ll be in advancing your ideas and helping to shape our Party. That’s what we’d like to help you with. This email will go over general training, schedule, and the Platform & Resolutions committee. There is a LOT packed in here -- including the link to all of the resolutions submitted by all of the county / SD conventions from across the state -- and it will all help ensure our shared convention time produces the best possible outcomes. Training videoWith the help of lots of great folks, our Operations Director Rachel Malone has created a training video that covers all the essentials of being an effective delegate. It’s 23 minutes long and WELL worth your time. Here also are the slides and the transcript from the video, in case that better suits your learning style. Please feel free to use and share all of these items as much as you’d like!
ScheduleYou need to know that nearly all of our schedule is highly subject to change -- mostly for the reason that you, the delegates, are in charge of it. The order of business is recommended by the rules committee to the SREC on Wednesday (6/13), and will be presented to the delegates for adoption Thursday morning (6/14) in our first General Meeting. So any of this could change if a majority of the delegates decide to change it. That having been said, here’s a lineup of what you can reasonably expect for convention week -- June 11-16. Platform & Resolutions CommitteeEver wonder how the platform is made? Wish you could tell “them” they shouldn’t say it that way -- or that there’s another important thing to include? This committee is the heart of the platform creation process, and here’s all the info you need to be a vital part of that process. Links
