Know your waste: 'RCRA empty' vs 'empty'

RCRA Empty Waste Rules

Did you know that just because a container is 'empty' it still may not be considered 'RCRA empty?' We realize that regular hazardous waste generators may be thinking to themselves, “Yeah, we knew this…”  However, we generally think of something as empty when it appears empty to the naked eye.  But, hazardous containers that are defined as RCRA empty are not subject to EPA regulation even when residue remains.

So what makes a container RCRA empty? There are two general (common) answers as well as a third less common condition.

Hazardous Waste Regulations Test

One of the first things you will notice if you attend one of our RCRA training seminars is our Pretest.  This test is included so you can gain a better understanding of your strengths and weaknesses as they relate to hazardous waste generator regulations.

The free quiz download has 35 questions (and answers) and is a great way to test your knowledge on hazardous waste regulations.  This test is also useful to test your fellow colleagues or employees.  You could even use it to create a competition within your organization to see who can answer the most questions correctly!

2013 RCRA Seminars

We have a full schedule of dates for our 2013 RCRA Seminar series.  If you've participated in one of the events in prior years you know how helpful and informative these seminars can be.  We offer seminars near most of our facilities throughout the U.S.  Check out our RCRA seminar calendar to see if the location nearest you has a date set for their seminar.  We will be updating this throughout the year, so check back frequently.
