Calgary’s top CEOs and presidents hit the links

Calgary’s top CEOs and presidents hit the links

There’s something about the golf course that makes it a natural setting for sealing a business deal.

Maybe it’s more relaxing than the corporate boardroom or maybe the outdoor setting allows conversation to flow more naturally and allows relationships to be struck.

On Tuesday, the Calgary Chamber held Play with the Presidents, an annual golf tournament that brings together more than 50 of the city’s top presidents and business leaders, as well as 180 golfers who are eager to connect with these high-level corporate executives.

Learn more on why Play with the President is one of Calgary’s premier networking events.

Chamber publishes report to improve aboriginal-business partnerships

Chamber publishes report to improve aboriginal-business partnerships

Aboriginal communities are going to play a critical part in Canada’s economic growth in the coming years.

More than $315 billion in major resource development projects has already been identified on or near Aboriginal communities throughout the country and that number is likely to only increase as land claims are settled and pipeline projects to transport Canadian oil move forward.

To explore how industry and Aboriginal communities can work together, the Calgary Chamber started the Aboriginal-Business Connection series in 2011. This speaker and research series brought together leading Aboriginal experts, members of the Aboriginal community and government representatives to share insights on how Aboriginal communities and industry can build prosperous business relationships. The series concluded on June 29 2012, with the release of a summary report and toolkit outlining the insights gained from this year-long project.

Learn more on how your business can build prosperous business relationships with Aboriginal communities.

This week Brunnen looks at the recent slump in oil prices, examining the market forces at play which have contributed to driving oil down to around $80 per barrel.

Learn more about how $80 could affect the government of Alberta’s budgeting, and why this price fluctuation may be more of a blip on the radar rather than a long-term trend.
