Mundaring District Museum - Current Exhibition

A Place to Stay looks at the long history of accommodation in Mundaring Hills. Wayside inns on the York Road came first, providing travellers with lodging, food and stabling for horses. Then in the 1880s and 1890s, hotels and boarding houses developed alongside the Eastern Railway, catering particularly for men working on the Weir and Pipeline. By the 1920s, the fresh air and healthy lifestyle of the Hills attracted families to spend their holidays here. The exhibition includes photos and information about many of these hotels and guest houses.

Exhibition hours are Mon-Sat 9.30am-4pm, Sun 10am-2.30pm through to 20 April 2017. Enquiries to mhhs@iinet.net.au or Facebook page.
