Hi there!,

Welcome to the July/August TeacherTrainingVideos.com Newsletter.

As usual it is late. This time as I was out in Iceland giving a talk and catching up with a few old friends. This months newsletter should be really useful to ALL TEACHERS. It shows you how to do advanced searches on Google Images ( many teachers don't seem to realise that you can do this) and I even show you how to look for copyright free images on Google. This way you will always know that you have done your best to avoid infringing copyright. I have also made a set of videos that show you a few other sources where you can get free images and copyright free images and some for commercial purposes.

There is also a link to a talk I recently gave at the University of Oxford at Exeter College, a new set of training videos on using EDMODO which is a sort of free virtual learning environment and really impressive,  and finally a link to a free book which I wrote a chapter in from the British Council on ICT and ELT.

Thanks to CUP for sponsoring my newsletter.

CUP have yet again sponsored this newsletter. There are nearly 15,000 subscribers to this newsletter now and their sponsorship helps to keep everything free. This month it looks like they have a special offer on. Don't forget it doesn't cost anything to click and take a look.

Get started with Edmodo

Edmodo is a completely free cut down version of a virual learning environment. You can create groups for each of your classes and then use it as a way of interacting with your students. You can share links, discuss things, set homework, add up files for them to access and so much more. This is an introductory set of videos and will get you started.

Advance Searching with Goolge

A lot of people don't know how to do advanced searches on Google images. You can search for certain size pictures, certain colours and even certain types of images. So for example you can  look for drawings or clip art. There are some special settings in advanced searches that allow you to look for certain licenses including copyright free and images that you can use commercially. A really quick and useful set of videos that will help any teacher.

Check out the consultants-e for online ICT training

Many of you ask me about on-line courses. I currently don't offer any on-line courses but  I can recommend the consultants-e. It is run by Gavin Dudeney and Nicky Hockly and they run a whole variety of on-line and face to face courses.

My talk at the University of Oxford

I recently gave a talk at the University of Oxford. It was my first ever presentaton at Oxford . I focused on my favourite 3 tools and explained how they can be used for speaking, reflection and feedback. The talk was well received and I have had a few inquiries since. This link takes you to the presentation and all the links work.

British Council free book on technology

The British Council recently published a book on the use of ICT in ELT. I wrote one of the chapters. I have been reading through the other chapters of the book and I must say the editor, Gary Motteram has done a great job. You can download it for free here. It is called 'Innovations in learning technologies in ELT'

Othere sources for finding free and copyright free images

This short set  of videos shows you other sources where you can find copyright free images and images that you can use commercially for free. These videos focus on sources other than Google images.

That's it for this month

I assume that many of you will be on holiday but hopefully you will open up the newsletter when you get back. I think the videos on using images will be very useful and something that many many teachers ask me about.

You can follow me on Twitter and Facebook and I often add up additional material onto both networks.
