Mitchell Memo July 2015

Alaska Airlines Now Boarding to Seattle!

Alaska Airlines kicked off its new daily nonstop service between MKE and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport earlier this month.  The new route allows for easy connections to Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii.

The new service is operated with spacious Embraer E175 jets, featuring 12 seats in first class and 64 in coach.  Onboard amenities include Wi-Fi Internet access, streaming inflight entertainment and 110-volt power ports in every first class seat. Hot meals and picnic packs are available for purchase, in addition to Northwest microbrews and wine.

Alaska Airlines, based in Seattle, serves more than 100 destinations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.  Flights can be booked online at www.alaskaair.com.

Fly Delta Nonstop to Boston!

Delta's new nonstop route to Boston has been flying since last month! Timed for Milwaukee-based business travelers, these daily flights to Boston depart in the morning and return in the evening.  Delta is using dual-class aircraft on this route.  Book your trip today at Delta.com!

Bag Claim Renovation Completion

Our new baggage claim building is now open to the traveling public! The newly-renovated space includes five new carousels and creates a more inviting, spacious environment for travelers as they arrive in Milwaukee.

The new green roof is now visible from both parking garage skywalks, and a new skylight spans the entire length of the building.  Look for the new glass canopy extending over the vehicle roadway to protect travelers during rainy weather.

The Baggage Claim roadway will remain closed to all vehicles except buses and shuttles until road work wraps up in late July. In the meantime, the Airport is offering one hour of free Hourly-section parking to help drivers meet passengers while avoiding delays on the shared Ticketing/Baggage Claim roadway.

Slalom Artwork Floats Above Travelers

Be sure to check out the new public art display during your next visit to our new Baggage Claim.  “Slalom” incorporates a gently undulating ribbon of kinetic elements that floats overhead and weaves its way throughout the building’s support columns.  The result is an ever-changing sequence of varied and unpredictable effects.

Real-time Bus Arrivals Display

Mitchell Airport and the Milwaukee County Transit System have teamed up to provide live bus arrival times to passengers.  Located near Carousel 1, the display shows bus real-time bus arrival information and a live map.  Mitchell Airport is served by the GreenLine and Route 80.  Both routes can take passengers to downtown Milwaukee and beyond.
