Faith in the Commonwealth Online PanelDate: Monday 29th June Time: 12:00 - 1:30 PM (BST) Venue: Online Type of Event: Panel and Q&A The Commonwealth Jewish Council looks forward to hosting an expert panel on 'Faith in the Commonwealth', exploring the role religions play in strengthening society around the Commonwealth. All of our lives have been transformed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our cherished religious communities are no exception. Communities have had to adapt to the virtual world and have once again shown themselves to be abundant sources of social capital, innovation and resilience. This panel brings together senior religious leaders from a number of traditions to explore whether and how religions make the Commonwealth a better place. Panelists Mgr. Antoine Kambanda, Archbishop of Kigali - Rwanda Antoine Kambanda is a Rwandan prelate of the Catholic Church who was named Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kigali in November 2018. Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis - UK Ephraim Mirvis has been Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth since 2013. Born in South Africa, he has held various rabbinical posts in the UK Jewish community, as well as previously serving as Chief Rabbi of Ireland. Dr Chinmay Pandya, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya University - India Dr Chinmay Pandya currently serves as Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya University in India, a non-conventional centre for higher learning, education and research, and leading the way for Hindu-based goals for humanity in this generation. The Rt Revd & Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, Bishop of London - UK Dame Sarah Mullally, DBE is a British Anglican Bishop, Lord Spiritual, and former nurse. She has been Bishop of London since March 2018. Professor Ebrahim Moosa, Mirza Family Professor of Islamic Thought & Muslim Societies, University of Notre Dame - South Africa/ USA Ebrahim Moosa, who was born and studied in South Africa, is a Professor of Islamic studies at the University of Notre Dame in the USA. Chair - Dr Joanna Newman MBE FRSA, Chief Executive and Secretary General, The Association of Commonwealth Universities, and advisor to the Commonwealth Jewish Council. This event is free and open for to all to attend. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A. We look forward to your questions following the panellists introducing their ideas.
