Remember Meerkat? The first real live-streaming app was the hit of last year's SXSW conference. Now it's dead. The writing was probably on the wall when rival Periscope was snapped up by Twitter for a cool $100m. Then followed Facebook Live and live-streaming went mainstream. The rapid demise of Meerkat is still somewhat of a surprise and an indication of how fast-moving and fickle social media can be. The team behind Meerkat are already working on a new video app: Houseparty. Will this one have better legs? We don't know – but let's read more in the latest edition of Sociable Folktales.
