TERM 3 WEEK 5 AUGUST 21, 2019 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEDear Parents/care givers We celebrated a beautiful Rite of Reconciliation last night with our children in Year 3 and children from Our Lady of Grace Parish. Lighting of candles played a beautiful part of this Sacrament and many parents, friends and staff were able to join the children in this Liturgy. Last Friday all children making their Reconciliation spent the day learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and finished with a Liturgy of the Word. Thank you to the many parents who joined us for the Liturgy and of course the children who shared their joy with us all day. We will be celebrating after 5.30 Mass this Sunday with a sausage sizzle, come and join us in the Church. We have celebrated the opening of our transformed library THE HIVE this week. Through the generosity of the P&F and the wonderful library collection we have been able to create a contemporary space dedicated to curiosity, reading, inquiry and learning. Our Book Week Parade on Monday morning was a sight to behold. Tonight and tomorrow night we have ‘Midnight in the Library” from 6.30 – 8.00pm where children are invited to wear their pyjamas, bring their favourite book and bring their parents to read the story to them. Thanks to Mrs Sherlock and Mrs Harmer (our worker bees) for all their enthusiasm and energy in THE HIVE. All parents and caregivers are invited to participate in an online survey about the ‘organisational climate’ of our school. This is an opportunity to provide feedback about your perception of our school. A letter sent to all families provided specific details about the survey, I invite all parents to go to www.NSIPartnerships.com.au and enter the code OLG19P to begin entering data. Our staff and students will also be participating in the survey over the next two weeks. Congratulations to our students who are receiving wonderful praise for the quality of their performances at the Performing Arts Festival. Our students continue to perform at various events over the festival and this evening our Year 5 students are performing their dance number. Good luck to all. Two special events coming up over the next couple of weeks being led and supported by our amazing P&F are the Father’s Day Breakfast, 29 August and Grandparent’s Day, 13 September. We are sharing these events with our Parish Fathers and Grandparents. I look forward to seeing lots of Dads and their children Thursday next week. Our IT Strategy has been launched and as promised frequently asked questions are going to be a feature of the Newsletter over this term. Our guest speaker Mr Paul Litherland will be presenting a parent cybersafety workshop repeated over two evenings on 12 and 17th September 7pm – 8.30pm in the Multi Purpose Area.
