House Passes Budget Resolution

Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted to advance a $3.5 trillion budget resolution by a party-line vote of 220-212. The resolution, which was passed by the Senate earlier this month, contains budget reconciliation instructions for various committees and is the first step towards enacting budget reconciliation legislation.

The instructions included in the resolution allow the Senate HELP Committee to spend $726 billion and the House Education and Labor Committee to spend $779.5 billion to advance President Biden’s and Congressional Democrats’ economic recovery priorities. House and Senate Committees will now begin drafting their respective reconciliation bills.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that the House will vote on a budget reconciliation bill and the bipartisan infrastructure bill by September 27th.
