GRANDWOOD PARK PARK DISTRICT – PHASE 4 REOPENING PLANS
The state of Illinois and its residents have done a good job of “flattening the curve” to ensure our medical systems do not become overwhelmed. "Illinois has done better than almost every other highly populated state" in controlling the virus, Gov. Pritzker said, and as a result it "has seen dramatic declines in COVID-19 deaths."
However, that does not mean the virus is gone. As some states are experiencing, it only takes a few people/events to get the virus spreading again. It's like a forest fire, as long as there is fuel, it will keep spreading. We can all contribute to keep Illinois and Grandwood Park's new cases of Covid 19 as low as possible.
Wearing a face mask, practicing social distancing, and washing our hands often is something we can all do.
IL Phase 4: Here's What Reopens, What's Allowed
The Park District will be following the guidelines established to ensure the health and safety of the residents of the Park District.
Open Space remains available to park district residents and renters per our existing policies.
Adam's Park will reopen also.
Shelters and fields will be available based on phase 4 guidelines and GPPD policies.
Outdoor recreation can include group sizes of up to 50 and permit multiple groups given facilities have space to appropriately social distance and can limit interaction between groups. Concession stands will be permitted with restrictions.
Adam's Park is open. Please practice social distancing whenever you can, wear face masks when in closer contact with anyone else at the park, and use hand sanitizer often. The park district will not be cleaning or disinfection any playground equipment, bench, table, etc. in the park.
Rentals will again be available under the states phase 4 guidelines. The community center has a 161 capacity, however under the phase 4 guidelines, we will be limited to 50 people.
Meetings and events: Venues and meeting spaces can resume with the lesser of up to 50 people or 50 percent overall room capacity. Multiple groups are permitted given facilities have space to appropriately social distance and can limit interaction between groups. This includes activities such as conferences and weddings.
Please contact the Grandwood Park Park District office for more details.

Along with spring & summer weather comes mowing the lawn, planting flowers, trimming shrubs, and home improvements. Park District staff patrolling the grounds have reported grass clippings, shrub trimming debris, buckets, dirt, and construction debris dumped on Park District property.
Dumping yard waste of any kind, garbage, or any other material, on any property other than your own is illegal and prohibited on any Park District property. The Lake County State's Attorney's office published an environmental booklet on Environmental Rules & Regulations in Lake County Illinois. The following information comes directly from the booklet regarding landscape waste and proper disposal: Landscape Waste
It is illegal to place landscape waste into household garbage, or to dispose of it in landfills. Landscape waste must be handled on the property from which it was generated - it cannot be taken to, or dumped on, another property. Here are examples of what is being found: yard waste dumped at two entrances to Unity Trail, a microwave dumped by the tennis court in Lake Park, and dirt with rocks and yard waste.
If you witness any illegal dumping, please contact the Park District at 847-356-0008 or parkdistrict@grandwoodpark.net.

We continue to experience vandalism in our parks. Two signs in Lake Park located near the dam have disappeared, one with the post it was on!
If you witness anyone damaging Park District property, please report it to the Sheriff's Dept. at 847-549-5200. You can also contact the Park District office at 847-356-0008, or by email at parkdistrict@grandwoodpark.net.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF PARKS
Motorized vehicles of any kind are prohibited on Park District property without receiving prior permission from the Park District. We have received several reports that an individual riding a red/white dirt bike, wearing a red/white helmut, has been seen riding on the field at Hutchins Athletic Field, and in Lake Park. This individual is sometimes riding with another dirt bike and/or an ATV. The Sheriff's Dept. has been called more than once, however, they have not been able to track them down. If you have any information
regarding the identity of these individuals, please contact the Park District office at 847-356-0008.
