BSB March Networking Function

At last night’s networking function, BSB members enjoyed an absolutely spectacular sunset on the rooftop terrace of the new Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane!

Members heard from guest speaker Geoff Hogg, Managing Director Queensland, The Star Entertainment Group, who shared his vision for collaboration and partnership with local businesses.

Thank you to Australian Catering Services for providing drinks and delicious canapés, and to BSB sponsor Griffith University.

Asia’s Largest Computer Graphics Conference Chooses Brisbane

Brisbane has again proven its credentials as an Asia-Pacific hub for the creative and digital industries with Asia’s largest computer graphics conference and exhibition choosing the city as its first Australian destination.

To be held in Brisbane in November 2019, SIGGRAPH Asia will attract 6000 of the world’s top technical and creative talent across four days of discussions and demonstrations on emerging computer graphics and interactive techniques.

As part of the event, SIGGRAPH Asia’s Computer Animation Festival will showcase a global collection of leading creative animation and visual effects works.

The successful bid to host SIGGRAPH Asia for the first time in Australia was a collaborative effort led by Brisbane Marketing, Tourism Events Queensland, the Brisbane SIGGRAPH chapter, and the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC).

BCEC General Manager Bob O’Keeffe said it was an exciting opportunity to be the first convention centre in Australia to host SIGGRAPH Asia in 2019.

Help bring the Hope Street Café to Hope Street

Micah Projects’ Hope Street Café has been selected as one of four organisations to participate in the 2017 Social Enterprise Design Challenge.

Every cent raised will go towards opening the Hope Street Café at Brisbane Common Ground and will strengthen the ability to give more people access to training and employment opportunities through the Hope Street Café training program, run in partnership by Micah Projects and TAFE Queensland Brisbane.

The English Family Foundation will generously pledge the first 50% of the $30,000 tipping point goal but for Hope Street Café to receive any funding at all, the funds need to be matched by donations from the community.

The campaign will run online at www.startsomegood.com for one month, from now until 28 April 2017. Micah Projects encourages you to visit the website and make a pledge to this wonderful cause!
