Update - Unitec Commissioner to lead RoVE Establishment Unit

Tēnā koutou

I am pleased to share that our Commissioner Murray Strong has been appointed Executive Director of the New Zealand Intitute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) Establishment Unit. The appointment will be distributed to media later this morning.

This means Murray will lead the Establishment Unit in an interim position until NZIST is offically formed on 1 April 2020, at which point a Chief Executive will be appointed.

He will remain as Unitec Commissioner during this time, as well as continuing his role as Crown Manager at Tai Poutini Polytechnic (TPP). However, he will be standing aside from his position as Chair of NZQA for the duration of the NZIST appointment.

Murray has asked me to pass on that he is excited to be part of establishing NZIST and delighted to be continuing his work with Unitec.

I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Murray.

Ngā mihi

Merran Davis
Interim Chief Executive
