BATC Joins DLI's 2016 MN Construction Institute

BATC and BAM are pleased to be part of the planning committee for the Minnesota Department of Labor’s 2016 Minnesota Construction Institute slated for Thursday, February 25, 2016. BATC was a sponsor of the 2014 event, and plans to continue its engagement with a 2016 sponsorship. The Conference will update the construction industry about current regulations and provide an opportunity for attendees to share ideas with state officials. One full track will be dedicated to residential construction. BATC has suggested discussing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (Corps) new rule on the waters of the US and how it will impact Minnesota agencies that govern water and ultimately our builders and developers. We also recommended a session regarding the Labor Relations Board’s new test for employers to determine whether an individual is an independent contractor or employee under Federal labor law. As the Conference agenda becomes firm and details are set, we’ll keep you posted.

September Hot Sheet is Out!

“This month’s drop in the more volatile multifamily side is a return to trend after an unusually high June. While multi-family production has fully recovered from the downturn, single-family starts are improving at a slow and sometimes intermittent rate as consumer confidence gradually rebounds. Continued job and economic growth will keep single-family housing moving forward.”

                    - NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe.

State Fairgoers Weigh in on Policy Issues Poll!

The annual MN House of Representatives State Fair Poll asked fairgoers to weigh in on data privacy, public pre-K funding, and more. The poll, conducted at the House booth by nonpartisan House Public Information Services, is an informal, unscientific survey of issues discussed in prior legislative sessions and may be topics of discussion in 2016.
