A new study of stem cell therapy in men with erectile dysfunction (ED) has provided some possible clues for outcome success.
The study, published online in February in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, included 36 men with ischemic cardiomyopathy and ED. Twenty-eight participants received transendocardial stem cell injections, and eight men underwent placebo injections.
Researchers used the erectile function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-EF) to assess progress.
They discovered that men who received higher cell doses and those who received autologous-derived cells had similar significant results.
