Click here Mary the Mother of Jesus was taken up into heaven to be the beginning and pattern of the Church in it’s perfection, and a sign of hope and comfort to your people on their pilgrim way. We ask Mary, our Mother, to pray for us. TERM 3 WEEK 4 AUGUST 14, 2019 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEDear Parents/Guardians We have been well represented over the past weeks by students in in both the Arts and the Sciences. Last Friday and Saturday 5 Robocup teams battled it out at Curtin Stadium in a variety of robot challenges. Students were required to program robots to avoid collisions, play soccer, dance and generally do amazing things. The program is run by Mrs Fenlon and I thank her for the opportunity and time commitment needed to run this program. Good luck to all our Tournament of Minds (TOM) Teams who are busy upskilling in the art of collaborative problem solving! Our Art pieces are currently on display in the Angelico Art Exhibition held in Forrest Centre, Perth finishes this Friday and Mrs Deed has entered many of our student’s art pieces into the exhibition. Good luck to the artists and thanks Mrs Deed for the involvement in setting up the exhibition. Many of our students are involved in the Catholic Performing Art Festival (PAF) and we have received glowing reports of their talent and enthusiasm. Our music program is significant with nearly a fifth of our students taking instrumental lessons with school tutors. Mrs Goldie is responsible for this program and Third Term is particularly busy with the PAF and our involvement in One Big Voice Choir in its 20th year. The One Big Voice Choir consists of schools from Perth and is a celebration of the power of the voice and singing. Our choirs will be joining many other choirs for the concert on Friday 30th. Mrs Goldie and Mrs Deed’s talents in the area of The Arts is such that they are facilitating and teaching other teachers their knowledge and skills through Catholic Education WA. Congratulations. Tomorrow we celebrate the Feast of The Assumption by joining together as a whole school. Catholics have a traditional devotion to Mary the Mother of Jesus and as a school in the tradition of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth we acknowledge and support all mothers as part of loving families. Every Tuesday our school is led by our Year 6 Ministry in saying the prayer of The Angelus. It is a call and response prayer that reminds us of the story of Mary and her role in the life of Jesus. I invite you to join with us at Mass tomorrow at 9am. Invitations are being sent soon for Father’s Day Breakfast (Thursday 29 August) and Grandparents Day (Friday 13 September). This year we are extending our invitation to our Parish fathers and Parish grandparents. Our P&F host the Father’s Day Breakfast and provide a beautiful morning tea for our Grandparents Day. Please save the dates for these exciting events. God bless Gabrielle Doyle This week's assembly will be presented by students in 5W.
