Mitchell Memo December 2012

Connecting Milwaukee with the Bayou

Just in time for Mardi Gras, Southwest Airlines is launching new nonstop service to New Orleans on January 6th.  You’ll also get double Rapid Rewards points on all flights to/from MKE through January 31!  Register here and then visit Southwest.com to plan your trip to the Bayou!

We have your ticket to Pasadena!

Looking to book a flight to see the Badgers play Stanford in their third-straight Rose Bowl?  Mitchell Airport offers non-stop Southwest service to Los Angeles and several airlines offer connecting service to Burbank's Bob Hope Airport, which is the closest airport to the Rose Bowl!

Fun sun destinations

Although we haven’t had our first real dose of winter weather yet, the snow and cold will arrive soon enough.  You can escape by booking trips to warm weather destinations.  Delta Air Lines is launching new weekly non-stop service from Milwaukee to Orlando from February 16 through the end of March.

AirTran, Delta, Frontier, Apple Vacations and Funjet Vacations can help you warm up with as many as six non-stop flights to Cancun/Riviera Maya each Saturday through early April.

Non-stop charter service to Cozumel, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Jamaica, Puerto Vallarta, and Punta Cana will be available via Apple and Funjet from late December through late March.  If you would like help finding the right vacation for you, contact your friendly local travel agent.

Airlines on the move at Mitchell

Be sure to check the Flight Information Displays before heading to your gate!  Southwest Airlines is now operating on Concourse C, and US Airways is on Concourse D.  In early 2013, Delta Air Lines is expected to move from Concourse E to Concourse D.  The move will include a new, larger Delta SkyClub on Concourse D.  Click here for a complete concourse map of MKE.

Packers players trade places

You’ll never guess who helped Southwest Airlines at MKE in November.  Brad Jones and Jerel Worthy of the Green Bay Packers served as Southwest employees for a day!  They helped guide a 737 aircraft into the gate, offload bags, and board passengers.  Brad Jones got a laugh during the boarding process when he got on the microphone and said, “Anyone wearing Green Bay gear, please move to the front of the line!”

Will you win our last iPad Mini?

Enter today for your chance to win the last of three iPad Mini's that we are giving away on Facebook.  This is our way of saying thanks to all of our great MKE fans!  Adam Mensch of Oak Creek (pictured with his daughters, Grace and Caroline) won the first drawing, which also included a Mitchell Airport special prize bear.  Enter today, and be sure to share with your family and friends!  Our final drawing is on December 20th.

HMSHost helps Hurricane Sandy victims

It's always important to take time out to help those who are less fortunate.  HMSHost, which operates a number of concessions within Mitchell Airport, held a lunch fundraiser in November to support victims of Hurricane Sandy.  HMSHost matched the funds raised at MKE, bringing the total amount to $1,550, which was then donated to assist hurricane victims in New Jersey.  HMSHost is also accepting donations for the Red Cross at all of its Mitchell Airport locations.

Getting into the holiday spirit

The sound of beautiful piano music fills the main concession mall at MKE this time of year.  Our talented entertainers will continue to tickle the ivories through the spring break travel period in early April.  Many of our pianists take requests, so stop by and say hi!  Live piano music is another unique way that MKE makes your travel experience a little more pleasant.  We hope you enjoy the music over the holidays!
