Governor Andrew Cuomo visited Syracuse University to present proposed legislation intended to protect New Yorkers with disabilities. The Southeast ADA Center, a project of BBI, participated in a panel discussion with the national Social Security Advisory Board. Christy Dunaway delivered an opening statement and joined in a question and answer session as the board sought feedback on whether or not Social Security Disability programs are serving persons with disabilities effectively and, if not, what improvements could be made to enhance service. BBI’s annual magazine garners Hermes Creative Award

BBI’s Snapshots of Impact magazine received a Platinum Award in the Hermes Creative Awards 2012 competition. The Platinum Award recognizes the magazine as one of the most outstanding entries in the publications/magazine category. Launched in 2011, the magazine features inspirational stories about people with diverse disabilities who have been positively impacted by BBI’s innovative programs, research, and partnerships. Katherine McDonald to receive intellectual disabilities scholar award

BBI Faculty Fellow and Falk Associate Professor Katherine McDonald will receive the Tosinvest-San Raffaele Group Journal of Policy and Practice in Intellectual Disabilities Scholar’s Award from the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities. The award recognizes McDonald and a graduate research assistant for their review paper on action research with adults with developmental disabilities. MORE>
