Following input from Te Arawa, Rotorua Lakes Council is establishing Māori Wards for the 2022 elections. Council is undertaking a Representation Review, which decides how many councillors we have and how they are elected.
The council has shortlisted THREE options:
OPTION 1
1 General ward with 7 elected members
1 Māori ward with 3 elected members
OPTION 2
1 General ward with 6 elected members
1 Māori ward with 3 elected members
1 elected member ‘at large’
OPTION 3
1 General ward with 4 elected members
1 Māori ward with 2 elected members
4 elected members ‘at large’.
Te Tatau wants your feedback on what option you consider is optimal for Te Arawa and those on the Māori Electoral Roll.
