AAA Member Update #11Welcome to our member update. Our fortnightly update is our way of communicating more effectively with all AAA members. Calling all alpaca fashion labelsWe're excited to be hosting a fashion parade at this years' national show on Friday night 23 August and we want to hear from all those who would like their garments considered for this parade. At this parade we want to show the best of fashion - made from alpaca - of course! All garments need to be made of alpaca fibre - but we are not limited to garments only made in Australia. If you are interested in knowing more - please contact Rebecca Hard at rebecca@ashbournealpacas.com.au for further details. Website advertising With the launch of the new AAA website around the corner, we are seeking expressions of interest from those who would like to advertise their business logo (producers, processors, shearers, vets, fibre purchasers etc.) on the website on a one, three or six month cycle. Only once all these steps are complete will your membership show as current and you can download a Q-Alpaca certificate if required from eAlpaca. National alpaca show update Surprise update for the upcoming National Show - Prize Money will now be awarded to the amount of $500 for a Champion, and $1,000 for a Supreme. Show entries have been extended to COB Friday 9 August so hurry and get those entries in! National show sponsorship Are you coming to the Australian Alpaca Nationals this year? Call for expressions of interest for NLIS tag trial The NLIS Standards Committee has agreed to a 12 month Alpaca NLIS trial. We are seeking expressions of interest from three or more alpaca breeders to act as trial properties with at least 50 head. The animals must be traceable if sold for the trial period of one year. Scholarships available for women in agricultureWomen & Leadership Australia have released a round of scholarship funding for women in agriculture. The initiative is providing women with grants of between $3,000 and $7,000 to enable participation in one of three leadership programs. Expressions of Interest are being open until 13 September. National South American Camelid Declaration and WaybillThe National South American Camelid Declaration and Waybill has been updated for use by Alpaca producers to provide information about the health status of their herds. Buyers should ask for a copy and use the information provided to determine the health risks associated with the animals offered for sale. Download a copy here.
