Mass Protest Against COVID Shutdowns, Fri, May 15, 12 PM EDT

HARRISBURG, Pa., May 12, 2020 - Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf blasted business owners on Monday, who reopened from coronavirus shutdowns before they are allowed, and the politicians who have supported them, threatening serious consequences to both groups.

Members of ReOpen PA, a group of about 85,000 concerned citizens, and affiliated groups throughout Pennsylvania, will protest the recent abuse of emergency powers that Gov. Wolf used within the state.

“This is now a state where one man is calling the shots and not abiding by the Constitution of the state or the country,” said Matt Bellis, spokesperson, and founder of ReOpen PA

ReOpen PA is a non-partisan grassroots group of individuals comprising of about 85,000 people across the state of Pennsylvania. Its mission is to “Protect the Vulnerable, Open the Economy, and Champion Liberty.”

The group began on April 13, 2020, on Facebook, and quickly grew to its current ranks and was instrumental in the April 20 protest in Harrisburg.

“The Governor is using laws for mobilizing aid for disaster areas during a time of emergency. These laws are meant for just a short time, but are now being used to disable resources, businesses, and people to lock them down,” said Bellis. “This is no longer in the best interests of the state.”
