ANZAC Day services

On ANZAC Day we remember all of the men and women who have served Australia in times of war or armed conflict, or international peace keeping operations. ANZAC Day Commemorative services will be hosted by various community groups throughout the Gladstone Region. For details visit Council's website.

TEAC recommendations

Two of seven major road and traffic recommendations identified by the Traffic Environment Advisory Committee (TEAC) will be implemented this financial year. Remaining projects across the region will be subject to receiving a funding allocation. The TEAC recommendations were presented to Council for consideration in the interest of greater safety for pedestrians and motorists in identified areas. Read full story here...

Social painting group, Friends in Art, meet every Friday from 10am to noon in the workshop studio of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum. Mark June 8 for Ubobo Bush Festival

Venture to the Boyne Valley on June 8 for the Ubobo Bush Festival, a major Queensland Week event in the state. The Ubobo community has received a large slice of the State Government's Queensland Week community event funding to put on a day to remember.

Highlights will be the Gladstone Area Water Board Ubobo Fun Run, carrying a total prize purpose of up to $1000; children's games and rides; a talent show; time capsule opening; a book launch; picnic lunch; roast dinner and on-stage entertainment throughout the night provided by the Gladstone Entertainment Centre.

This event is for the whole family so keep an eye on Council's website in the coming weeks for the program of events. Camping will be available for those who stay overnight.

Permit needed to access Lilley's Beach

Council reminds residents making the most of Lilley's Beach to ensure they have a permit to drive along the seven kilometre stretch of coastline from Boyne Island to the popular site.

Permits cost $5 for a week or $25 for a year and can be purchased from the Gladstone and Calliope Administration Centres or the Boyne Tannum Community Centre. Further information is available at Council's website.

Agnes Water visioning session

Residents are being invited to help shape the future of Agnes Water at a Community Visioning Session on Wednesday, May 29. As part of the development of a single land-use planning scheme for the region, Council is hosting the session at the Agnes Water Community Centre from 5.30pm to 8pm. Meeting dates

Upcoming Council general meeting dates are May 7 and 21. Residents are welcome to attend from 9am at 101 Goondoon Street, Gladstone.

ANZAC display open

The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum will open as normal on ANZAC Day, Thursday, April 25 providing the opportunity to see the brand new exhibition, ANZAC DAY: Lest We Forget. Find out about this and other exhibitions at the gallery/museum website.
