Sex May Have Protective Effect During COVID-19 Lockdowns
Staying sexually active during pandemic lockdowns could benefit psychological health, Italian researchers say.
Their study, recently published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, discussed a survey of 6,821 people in Italy who answered questions about their sexual and psychological health during a previous COVID-19-related lockdown.
About 38% of the respondents had been sexually active during the lockdown. The rest reported no sexual activity.
The researchers found that those who were not sexually active were more likely to have anxiety or depression. They also reported poorer relationship quality.
