We hope you all had a fun and relaxing holiday time and are enjoying the sunny weather and the great flavours of summer. Another fantastic season for basil and tomato salads, grilled aubergines and strawberry and cream deserts!. Cooking Classes Feb-June 2014

Vegetable Fermentation

Farmhouse Kitchen offers a hands-on workshop where you can learn all about making health promoting fermented foods, incl. sauerkraut and more…

You will be able to taste some delicious fermented foods, and take away your creations as well as lots of recipes and tips to try at home.
You will be making the following vegetable ferments: sauerkraut, ginger carrots, ketchup, beetroot kvass.

Glutenfree Baking

Eating delicious food is some of live’s great pleasures! But this occasion can provide a challenge for people who have to follow gluten-free diets. This hands-on class includes delicious options we can all enjoy. You will learn to bake tried and tested recipes that will work every time. With easy to follow instructions and tips along the way, you will achieve confidence in your ability to bake from scratch.

The cost is inclusive of ingredients and the finished baked products that you will take home with you, as well as the recipes. Sign up for a class or more and enjoy the pleasure of freshly baked delicious gluten-free food.

Cheese Making

Sunday 2 March 1-4.30 pm (mozzarella and haloumi)

Wednesday 9 April 6-9 pm (feta and ricotta)

Saturday 24 May 1-4.30 pm (mozzarella and haloumi)

In this three-hour long workshop you will either learn how to make mozzzarella and haloumi or feta and ricotta). You will be taught by Inacio Guimares, award winning cheesemaker at Hohepa and Chris van der Have of Farmhouse Kitchen.

All equipment and ingredients to make cheese are provided, and a beginners Italian Kit (valued at $39.90) from Mad Millie is included in the price. Just bring yourself, no prior experience is required. Light refreshments included.

You will go home with a full set of course notes, including recipes and instructions. And, of course, you’ll take some of your cheese home to show off!

These classes are a lot of fun, great value and fill up fast so get your friends together to come and discover the art of crafting cheese.

East Mediterranean Tapas

Wednesday 5 March 6-9 pm

Wednesday 11 June 6-9 pm

All around the Mediterranean you will find small plates of flavoursome and rustic tapas served as appetizers or meals.

In this class you will prepare five tapas dishes,from the Eastern Mediterranean, four savoury and one sweet. Great as party food or evenings in front of the fire – with these dishes you will be sure to please each and every guest. This is a fun and interactive cooking class for any level of experience. Perfect to attend on your own or with friends.

Bread Making

Saturday 15 March 1-4pm

Are you a home baker who dreams of pulling crackling artisan-baked breads from your oven? If so, this class was created with you in mind.

This is extensive hands-on work in yeast breads, from basic bread through whole grains, pitta bread and festive loaves as well as sourdough.
You’ll head home armed with new knowledge, and baked goods to share with friends and family.

Children's Holiday Classes

In the second week of the school holidays between term 1 and 2 we will organise 3 days (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) of cooking classes all with a different theme. We are still planning the content for these classes and more information will be available on our website soon.
