Monthly Mentor NewsletterMarch 2020!Happy Women's History Month!March is Women's History Month! What started as a "Women's History Week" celebration in Santa Rosa, California (1978) has transformed into an international reminder to honor the "herstory," contributions, and voices of women around the world. 2020 is also the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment. Check out the link below to see The National Mentoring Partnership's campaign of mentoring stories from prominent women, and the opportunity to submit your own mentoring story. Other Observances in MarchWe would also like to honor the following observances on March 31st: Transgender Day of Visibility: Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is a day focused on celebrating the accomplishments of trans and non-binary people, while also raising awareness on the discrimination trans and non-binary people face. Click the link below to learn ways to practice allyship with our trans and non-binary community on TDOV. Equal Pay Day: Equal Pay Day was originated by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996 to gain public awareness to the gap between men's and women's wages. This wage gap is even greater for women of color, particularly Black women. Learn more about the Gender Pay Gap and steps we can take to close it below. Cesar Chavez Day: Cesar Chavez Day is a day to remember and honor the legacy of Cesar Chavez. It is a chance to share his life's work as the founder and leader of the United Farm Workers of America and recognize his impact on the Labor Movement.
