Silly Season 'Gems'

Not many sleeps to go now … and, like most law firms, we’re doing the usual pre-holiday season rush of tidying up matters before the handbrake screeches on come Christmas Eve.

In our last edition of Off the Record for 2015, two of our solicitors, Gillian Stuart and Ben King, share a few gems of advice to help make the “silly season” safer and more enjoyable, and we update you on our new initiative, BizClub.

We were fascinated to check back and see which Off the Record stories really resonated with you during the year, so we’ve brought you the top 10 countdown of 2015’s most-read articles.
A little reminder, aside from the statutory holidays, our offices are open during the Christmas-New Year period, with a skeleton team working. The full team’s back on deck from January 13.

To the many friends of our firm, thank you so much for your support during the year. We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and a safe and prosperous New Year.

BizClub prize reminder

A huge thanks to all those who are already on board with BizClub – 2016 is going to be one exciting year. Don’t forget either, we have a $3000 marketing package up for grabs for all those who have, or do sign up, to BizClub before the end of January.

Remember, too, we’re finalising the BizClub calendar for 2016, and we’re asking BizClub members for input and feedback – you still have until tomorrow to let us know your thoughts. Take part, and you’ll receive a second entry in the draw for the major marketing package.

To sign up for BizClub, or if you have any questions, check out the BizClub section on our Aspiring Law site, email us on bizclub@aspiringlaw.co.nz, or feel free to give us a call on 03 443 0900.

Make it about the kids

We like to think of it as the “season of goodwill”. For many families, though, the holiday season can be extremely testing and feel anything but merry following a separation.

Having worked at the coalface for many, many years with both adults and youngsters navigating the festive season, here are a few tips based on what I’ve seen, time and again, make the difference between cheer and despair. Read more

Be merry – safely

‘Tis the season to be jolly – but not too jolly, when it comes to celebrations at the workplace.

Odds on, every year, we see everything from eyebrow-raising to tragic headlines from the lead-up to the Christmas holiday season … situations that never needed to have happened. Read more
