COVID-19 UPDATE FOR UNITEC STUDENTS

Kia ora ,

With the situation surrounding COVID-19 rapidly evolving, we appreciate that this is an unsettling time for students, staff and our communities. This email hopes to outline Unitec’s current position related to your studies with us.

At this stage we are still operating a business as usual approach, i.e. You are still expected to turn up to class unless you are actively unwell or you need to self-isolate according to the guidelines set by Ministry of Health

If either of these situations apply to you and your circumstances, please ensure you have actioned the following:

  • Contact your Lecturer to advise of your situation.
  • If you are actively unwell, you may need to provide a medical certificate from your doctor.  If you need to visit your Health Professional, please call in advance.
  • If you have to self-isolate, please notify our Student Support team by email studentsupport@unitec.ac.nz

If you have assessments that may be impacted due to this situation, you can request directly with your lecturer an extension of five days, otherwise please apply for an Affected Performance Consideration with the linked form.

The Unitec website and its social media channels (@UnitecNZ and @UnitecStudents) will also be kept up to date with COVID-19 related updates. We also aim to contact you directly by email for updates that may directly impact on your studies.

Additionally, Unitec is working through a range of options to minimise impact to your studies including what this might mean for you if you have to access online resources or services.

We continue to focus on providing a safe environment for study at Unitec, and are adopting a range of precautionary and preventative measures.  We will continue to keep you updated as the situation progresses.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.

  • Wash your hands!
  • Look after one another
  • Continue to follow the advice of the official websites, including Ministry of Health and COVID19, which has everything you need to know about COVID19 in one place.
