Our Lady of Grace Newsletter No Images? Click here At this time each year, we focus on the great communion of saints – On All Saints Day, the wonderful company of saints we know as part of our Catholic tradition. Dear God, thank you for the example of the Saints. Please help me follow their footsteps, and yours, Jesus Christ. Please help me to conform myself to Your image, seeking Your will in all things, as the Saints did. Please help me to devote myself, and all that I do, to Your glory, and to the service of my neighbours. On All Souls Day: We pray for those who have died. Friends, colleagues, relatives …… Other leaders whom we have known …worked with …laughed with …wept with …walked with … Many of them are not famous. Their statues are not in churches but their pictures are in our homes and their stories alive in our community, and in us. We know of their goodness and their struggles. We now pray for them, and remember them with love, celebrating in faith their journey to God, now within the great communion of saints. TERM 4 WEEK 3 30 OCTOBER, 2019 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEDear Parents and Care Givers Last night we had a tremendous time working with the Wellbeing Team (parents and teachers), a great group of parents from all year levels and Laura Allison (Team Leader Psychology Team Catholic Education WA). They all braved the awful weather and allowed us to present and discuss our Wellbeing Model. The Wellbeing Team consisting of Daniel Simpson, Katy Tindall, Angela Tartaglia, Barb Heal, Tony Brown, Sister Anita, Catherine Cutrona, Teresa Wandek, myself and led by Simone Harding have been working hard over the last 6 months to develop an evidence based definition of wellbeing at OLG, as well as a wellbeing model that we can use for all our community. This workshop enabled us to collect data and perceptions from parents on the model and on what we do well at OLG and what we can further develop at OLG. We will combine this data with information from our student group and our staff to refine the model in preparation for 2020. Keep an eye out for more opportunities to meet, discuss and contribute to the healthy and respectful culture of our school. We had the good fortune to meet our new Parish Priest, Father Hyginus this week. Father is moving into his home near the Church and will become a part of our community from next week. Father Hyginus will be saying the Masses in the Parish this weekend and I am sure he would love for the children to introduce themselves after Mass. Our wonderful Interschool Squad will be battling the elements at the Interschool Carnival today, thanks to Tony Brown and all the parents who have been able to help with this event. Well done to our soggy but courageous athletes. Let’s pray for no rain or even wind on Saturday 9th November for our School Community Fete, 10.00am - 3pm. There are lots of opportunities to help on the day and in the lead up to it and I would really appreciate a couple of Dads who fancy themselves as traffic controllers! We have students from Newman College and Sacred Heart College to assist with parking & in particular ensuring there is access for Disabled Parking. If you can help on the day for an hour or so could you let us know 6241 9500 or vicki.ryan@cewa.edu.au. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers to date and to the P&F for their organization and preparation for this terrific event. Make sure you let your neighbours, friends and family know that they are welcome to come and share in the excitement of the 2019 OLG School Community Fete. We believe that parents are the first educators of their children and are vitally important to the successful education journey for each child. OLG is renowned for its generous and dedicated parent body and volunteers. The school has traditionally taken Mother Foundress Day, 21 November, as the opportunity to thank all those volunteers who help keep us afloat. This year the Mother Foundress Volunteer Mass and celebration will start at 1 pm. Invitations will come out soon…. God Bless Gabrielle M Doyle This week's assembly is presented by students in 6G.
