From the editors...

The staff newsletter is produced every fortnight by the Internal Communications team so we can share news, announcements, selected events and some requests for help. 

If you wish to communicate around the University, the newsletter is just one way to do that. Please check our Methods of Internal Communication webpage, and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

The next newsletter will distributed on Wednesday 8 March - the deadline is 4pm on Friday 3 March.

Staff Alumni

Many of our staff are alumni, and as part of the 50th anniversary, we’ve started a blog post about them. If you’re a Dundee graduate, we’d love to hear from you.

Prospectus & Virtual Reality Goggles Launch

We are just about to launch the 2018 Undergraduate prospectus, which is the first major piece of work produced within the new brand framework.  We’d like to give all staff an opportunity to see how we’ll be promoting the University at the forthcoming UCAS fairs, look over the prospectus and try out the new virtual reality tour on our VR goggles.

External Relations is therefore cooperating with DUSA to set up part of our UCAS stand within the Pavement Café in DUSA on Tue 28 Feb between 10.30 and 3.30. 

Staff from recruitment, marketing and our creative teams will be on hand throughout that time to answer questions and take feedback, and DUSA are kindly offering half-price coffees as an additional draw.

River Rooms available for meetings

The River Rooms are a suite of meeting rooms situated on the 9th floor of the Tower. They are available for meetings and events free of charge, provided hospitality (tea/coffee) is booked. For further information or to make a booking email campuscatering@dundee.ac.uk

Women in Science Festival

The world's only festival dedicated to celebrating women in science, technology, engineering & maths is taking place 4-10 March.

Promoting careers in science to everyone, especially women and girls, supporting professional women to develop their careers and showcases the talented and exciting research taking place across Scotland.

A group for members of staff from the University, who happen to be single, has been set up. It's not about finding a new love within the group, but you might make some new friends. You can join the group on facebook.

Host families wanted

Four French students from Orleans will be coming to Dundee on 16 Apr to take part in a teaching exchange. The students are all studying to be teachers and are coming over to work in schools in Dundee. They are here until 6 May and need host family accommodation. This might be a great opportunity to practise your French. If you can help please contact Susan Buckman

2017 DUSA Elections

Find out about who is running and what they are standing for - DUSA Elections.

Voting for the DUSA Elections takes place 28 Feb - 2 Mar, via My Dundee.

Keep an eye out for the candidates who will be campaigning. Hustings will be held in Air Bar in DUSA on Fri 24 Feb.

Mindfulness, Meditation and Relaxation (Mon 26 Feb)

If you are feeling anxious and looking for ways to cope with stress, or you just want to develop skills in mindfulness and meditation come along to Mindfulness on Mondays in the Chaplaincy Centre.  It is a small friendly group and you do not need any previous experience to join us.  These are drop in sessions so there is no need to book. Any questions, please contact Jean Jarvis 01382 385015 or email.

Free tea & coffee in the Enquiry Centre (Thu 2 Mar)

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight and Mental Health Day, the Enquiry Centre will be giving out free tea and coffee from 10-3pm.

50 Years of Sport Reunion (Sat 1 Apr)

On Sat 1 April, 25 of our sports clubs will be celebrating the University’s sporting activity and successes over the past 50 years. All sporting alumni are invited - do you know any? Family, neighbours, friends? Tell them about it. Find out more

Programme Awareness Survey

Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to the recent Survey. The team are currently analysing the responses and will share the key findings over the next few weeks.  Congratulations also to Dianne Moran and Victoria Berwick who were chosen in the prize draw.

Website Refresh

Finance & Procurement Solution Design workshops come to an end

Thanks to the 40+ people who came along and participated in one or more of the 14 solution design workshops for Finance and Procurement.  We really appreciate the time and commitment of all involved.  The level of engagement and discussion was encouraging and we’ll be following these up with further discovery sessions for the wider Finance/Procurement communities.  Keep an eye out on our webpages for further information.
