Reminder: Student/Parent/Guardian/Advisor Conferences, Dec. 7

Conferences will be held on Friday, Dec. 7. There are no classes for students on this day. Your student will be leading the conference, so their attendance is essential.

Conferences are an important communication between the school and families as we work together for student success. Students and advisors have been preparing to make the conferences a productive session. Teachers will need time to transition between conferences, so please arrive punctually and plan for 30 minutes of conference time.

Someone will be located in front of the main office to help direct families to the appropriate conference locations. If you are not sure when you are scheduled, check your email for a message from Google Forms. If you need to reschedule your conference, please call Kiara Littlejohn at 206.816.6027.

Proudly Presenting "Tartuffe: Born Again," Dec. 13-16

The Northwest School Theater Department proudly presents Tartuffe: Born Again by Moliere, translated and adapted by Freya Thomas, and directed by Ellen Graham. Performances take place on Dec. 13-15, at 7:00 pm, and Dec. 16, at 2:00 pm, in the Black Box Theatre.

Set in a televangelist studio in the 1980s (Scrunchies! Michael Jackson and Madonna! Reaganomics!), this adaptation of the classic Moliere comedy portrays Tartuffe as a deposed televangelist who tricks Orgon and his family out of their money and home. Come for the shoulder pads and stay for the modern verse and great comedic acting.

We also have a special curtain warmer of The Rehearsal, written by Frank Garland '16, inspired by Moliere's Rehearsal at Versailles. Set in The Northwest School and illuminating actor foibles, you are in for the treat of Frank Garland's wit.

Reservations are required and can be found here.

Winterfest is Back!

On Friday, Dec. 21, we are celebarting Winterfest, a day devoted to math and science! There will be no classes for any grade levels and students do not need to bring backpacks. This is a required school day, and the regular school absence policy applies.

Middle school students should report to Morning Meeting as usual. The day will end around 2:30 pm. JV girls' basketball still have practice at 3:40 pm. Contact Cecilia Tung with any questions about Winterfest.

11th Graders: PSAT Score Release Mid-December

The College Board will release PSAT scores to students electronically between Dec. 10-12. The College Office will provide more details via e-mail about the score retrieval process for 11th grade students and families as the score release date approaches. We will discuss student scores and how they may inform a student’s testing plan during individual college conferences that begin in January.

Volunteer Opportunities with Dorm

Want to help prepare nutritious and delicious meals for individuals living with chronic illnesses? Come volunteer in Lifelong’s soup kitchen on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 2:30-5:00 pm. We will work in a kitchen and slice, dice, chop, and package foods. No prior experience necessary! Volunteers should dress comfortably and wear close-toed shoes.

We will meet in the dorm lobby at 2:10 pm and take a school bus together. Please contact Ruth Huang if you would like to join.
