Cancer treatments didn’t falter Australia during 2020 Covid19 lockdowns 

Australian cancer patients kept up their pharmaceutical treatments during last year’s COVID-19 lockdowns, a big data study from UNSW Sydney shows. The findings, published in Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific, come as a relief following early concerns that cancer patients would decrease, or even stop, potentially life-saving treatments during the pandemic.

Funding supports Australians living with a rare disease

UNSW Sydney researchers have been awarded $1.9 million for a project that will develop and deliver rare disease resources, education and training.

Survey: National COVID-19 Bereavement Project

Researchers at UTS are seeking participants in a study that explores the experiences and support needs of people bereaved from any cause during the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings from this research will inform a National Bereavement Action Plan that will go to the Government, making recommendations to improve access to bereavement support during this and future pandemics. It will also guide the education and training of mental health staff and other clinicians.

AeRO Google Cloud Grants (PhDs and ECRs)

This program provides PhD students and ECRs the opportunity for access to cloud computing resources (up to US $5K) from Google and training skills support from QCIF. The program will support projects that can benefit from access to scalable computing, storage and/or machine learning technologies.
