1. South Korea confirms spread of ASF as the UK prepares for the worst; meanwhile a simulation study shows that the ASF virus can survive in feed

South Korea is the latest Asian nation to confirm an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF). Elsewhere, the UK pig industry has called for more action to prevent African Swine Fever (ASF) entering the country, following an admission by government that it expects an outbreak within the next 12 months. This comes as the virus that causes African swine fever (ASF) seemingly can survive a 30-day trip in contaminated feed.

2. Three dead and 200 ill in Spanish Listeria outbreak

More than 220 people are sick and three have died as part of a listeriosis outbreak in Spain, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
