Renowned climate economist and author Graeme Maxton to join VIP panelJoin us for an interactive launch event for our new digital exhibition exploring the impacts of the climate crisis on people and communities across the world ahead of this autumn’s UN Climate Conference in Glasgow. With special guest speakers including renowned climate economist Graeme Maxton, this event is not to be missed. Participants will also have the chance to delve into the exhibition itself with interactive discussion sessions with people in the photos and those behind the camera. FOCUS ON HOLYROODCross Party Group on International Development to re-establish under new MSP leadershipOn 6 October, Sarah Boyack MSP (Labour) and Karen Adam MSP (SNP) will host the inaugural meeting of the CPG on International Development for this parliamentary session. They will put themselves forward as new office bearers for the group, with MSPs from all other Parliamentary Political Parties expected to join as CPG members. This first virtual meeting is also an opportunity for external organisations to officially join the CPG. FOCUS ON CLIMATEGlasgow Climate Dialogues LaunchOn 23 September, Stop Climate Chaos and the Scottish Government will launch a communique developed from a series of four dialogues with experts from the Global South from a range of countries worldwide to inform positions ahead of COP26. Speakers at the launch of the communique will include representatives from the Scottish Government and the Global South team who co-facilitated the communique development. The communique was developed after listening to over a hundred Global South experts and participants from Malawi, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, Bangladesh, Rwanda and Tonga, amongst others. MEMBER EVENTDraft Programme Announced: World Forum on Climate Justice 2021The 2nd World Forum on Climate Justice comes on the back of the success of the inaugural Forum held in June 2019 at Glasgow Caledonian University, which featured keynotes from distinguished speakers including Mary Robinson, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP and Kerry Kennedy. This year's World Forum will be held online on 21-23 September 2021 with key themes: COVID-19 & COP26. IN OTHER NEWSAlliance CEO Frances Guy to speak at Holyrood Cop26 Fringe FestivalTo complement the presidency themes, Holyrood Communications has curated an ambitious four-day fringe festival. Taking place in the heart of Glasgow city centre, at a venue under Central Station, between 3 – 6 November, each day of the festival will focus on a different theme. Frances Guy will be speaking on Day 4 in the 'Scotland: Net Zero Global Leader' session. Holyrood Green Giant AwardsThe Holyrood Green Awards recognise individuals and organisations with outstanding achievements and projects supporting Scotland's journey to a net-zero future.
