Elevating Housing: BATC's Q1 Advocacy Update

Our work on behalf of the housing industry has been swift and intense in the first quarter of 2017. We're excited to share an update on our Advocacy work so far this year that includes an exciting new partnership, legislative success, and new efforts in the regulatory process.

Lennar topped the list of Twin Cities Builders for the 11th year in a row. Lennar has held the top spot since 2006. Lennar reported gross revenue at $262 million for 519 single family and 63 multi-family homes (582 total) closed in the 2016 calendar year. Following Lennar, the top five home builders were CalAtlantic Homes, PulteGroup, D.R. Horton, Inc., and Mattamy Homes.

Another Strong Home Building Surge in March
|
For the fourth month in a row, home building activity continues to break 10-year old permit number records. March total permits are up nearly 30 percent over this month last year, while units are up nearly 50 percent over March 2016.

Our Spring Tours Rocked!Early reports from this Spring’s Parade of Homes and Remodelers Showcase were really positive! Overall traffic appeared to be up and quality was high according to the early responders to our surveys. The weather cooperated by bringing us an early spring, and we got plenty of press throughout the tour – even four segments for the final weekend: two in-studio Remodelers Showcase interviews (Ed Roskowinski from Vujovich on WCCO and Shawn Nelson, New Spaces on KARE-11) plus Fox-9 showed off Sustainable 9 Design Build’s Artisan Dream Home and Jyland Construction’s Parade Home on Sunday morning.
