Kia ora koutou

With hundreds of learners arriving on campus over the next few weeks to be welcomed to Te Whare Wānanga o Wairaka and begin their journey of study with us, we have plans in place to keep everyone safe. We have confirmed the following provisions for Pōhiri for the different Alert Levels:

  • Alert Level 3: No pōhiri or noho
  • Alert Level 2: Pōhiri will go ahead with no hongi. Karakia will be used to close off proceedings. No noho, due to social distancing requirements
  • Alert Level 1: Pōhiri – hongi and harirū optional, noho can proceed

The below messaging will also be shared with our ākonga, should we remain at Alert Level 2:

  • Keep 1 metre social distancing
  • We recommend bringing a face covering and wearing it where you can’t achieve one metre distancing or where you feel it is appropriate
  • Maintain personal hygiene by washing hands and sneezing or coughing in the inside of your arm
  • Scan in using the QR codes and turn on Bluetooth

Our Infrastructure team has added te reo Māori wording on the QR codes for the Wharenui, Wharekai & Puukenga.

If you haven’t already, please complete the Alert Level 2 Health and Safety Refresher, before Monday 22 February, when we expect our campuses to be busier. Our Health and Safety team has a record of everyone who has completed it.

Ngā mihi
